The Commission on Higher Education sent Ms. Dona Co to discuss the K-12 transition and its implications to the Industry. She presented the government initiative to support Faculty members who will be seriously affected by this change. Entitled “The Perfect Storm,” this program aims to help the deloaded teachers and have them be part of the industry as a strategic approach. This endeavor will address unemployment and make the academe realize first-hand the essence of the possible industries their students are facing in the future.

The government plans to subsidize this project giving the “Industry Relevant Teachers” an allowance for either full-time or part-time participation. Industry leaders, in turn, will have the benefit of solving practical problems such as language skills and further cultivate a new generation of talent. This faculty immersion/training is projected to last for two years.
